candle care

after purchasing your candle, whether it be from the c house or elsewhere, it's very important that you look after it in order to preserve its quality and life. it may sound a bit unfamiliar to have guidance tips on looking after a candle, but it makes a huge difference!

here are some tips that will ensure that you get the best out of your soy wax candles at home:

  • do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time
  • allow the first burn to create a pool of melted wax across the perimeter of the container in order to avoid tunneling - this usually takes around 1-2 hours of burning.
  • avoid leaving your candle in direct sunlight or heat, this can affect the colouring of wax as well as evaporate some of the fragrance from your candle.
  • use a wick trimmer to trim your wick before every burn - this is to prevent your wick from smoking, which also can burn off your fragrance quicker than usual. it also leaves black soot on the inside of your candle container which isn't ever a nice sight! a shorter wick allows for a more controlled and safer flame.
  • use a candle snuffer to extinguish your candles, this is to prevent excess smoke and hot wax from splattering
  • if you have a lid (or a dust cover), make sure to place it back on your candle after every use, this keeps the candle clean and prevents dust from attaching to the surface, this will also make sure your scent stays for as long as possible.
  • before each burn, clean off any remaining wax on the inside of the container to avert chances of tunneling.
